A young North East company has become one of less than forty in the country to hold a leading edge accreditation for their services.
Cirrus Environmental Solutions Ltd. gained accreditation for their Stack Emission Monitoring services in late 2007. The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) and Environment Agency’s MCerts accreditation for the organisation allows them to provide services which are recognised as meeting top-level performance requirements. This will allow Cirrus to compete with the major providers of emission monitoring services throughout the UK and Europe.
Stuart Hovvels, a Director at Cirrus, said: “This is an important development for us, as it means that we can now carry out work for large and multi-national companies who require UKAS accreditation when choosing suppliers.”
UKAS is the sole national accreditation body recognised by government to assess, against internationally agreed standards, organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services. Using a UKAS accredited supplier ensures that businesses are making a confident and informed choice about the quality and reliability of the service they will receive.
Stuart continued: “More and more clients are stipulating the use of accredited companies, whether as a legal requirement enforced by the Environment Agency or a preferred solution for assuring the quality of a supplier. Being one of less than forty companies in the UK to be UKAS accredited for emission monitoring will better our position in the market to win new business, particularly with multi-national organisations, as both UKAS and MCerts are recognised internationally.”
In addition to the organisations achievements, Stack Emission Monitoring Team Leader John Philp is one of around twenty personnel in the UK to hold a Level 2 MCert qualification with all four Technical Endorsements (advanced qualifications in specific monitoring techniques).
John Philp said: “Gaining the advanced qualifications is obviously delightful to me on a personal and professional level, but I think they stand as testament to the hard work that everyone at Cirrus has delivered, and the outstanding developments that we have made in just two years since the company launched. Gaining UKAS and MCerts accreditation for an organisation after less than three years of trading is a major achievement.”
